How Private Label Sportswear Manufacturing Works

Private label puts your brand on garments Sublivio manufactures to order: the labels, tags and packaging, plus the sample you approve before production starts.

Private label sportswear manufacturing means a factory makes garments to order under your brand name, with your labels, tags and packaging, instead of selling you its own branded stock. You bring the brand and the design direction. Sublivio handles the manufacturing, the decoration and the packing, and nothing goes into full production until you have approved a sample. That sample step is what separates a brand programme from a one-off team order. A team orders kits for a season. A brand builds a range it will sell, restock and be judged on, so the labels, the finish and the consistency between runs carry as much weight as the garment itself.

What does private label actually cover?

A private label programme covers everything that makes a garment yours before it reaches a customer. The neck label carries your brand name instead of the factory's. Hang tags carry your pricing, sizing and care information. Polybags keep each piece clean and presentable. Carton marks tell your warehouse what is inside each box without opening it. The garments themselves are made to order. Sublivio does not hold retail stock and does not sell finished branded garments off the shelf. Each programme is manufactured against your specification: the sport and style, the decoration method, the colours, the sizes, and the label and packaging choices. Pick the method by what the design needs. Sublimation carries full-colour artwork through the fabric. Embroidery gives a stitched crest or wordmark weight. Heat transfer handles names, numbers and smaller runs of individual personalisation. [Sublivio's private label programme](/private-label) runs on the same [manufacturing](/manufacturing) base as its teamwear: made to order, checked at sample stage, quoted per programme.

How does a programme run, start to finish?

  1. 01

Send the brief and get a quotation.

Share the garments, quantities, decoration and label requirements, and Sublivio quotes the programme. Minimum order depends on garment and decoration method. Smaller first runs are supported, and similar programmes typically start around 24 units, confirmed in the quotation.

  2. 02

Supply your artwork and label details.

Send a clean vector logo, the label wording and any hang tag content. If you have a brand sheet, send it too. It answers colour and spacing questions before they are asked.

  3. 03

    Approve the sample.

A sample is made and sent for your review. The sample is free, shipping is paid by the customer, and availability is confirmed after review. Check the fit, the decoration, the label and the packaging on the sample itself, because it becomes the reference for the run.

  4. 04

Production runs against the approved sample.

Standard lead time is 14 days. Larger orders depend on the requirement and are confirmed in the quotation. Finished pieces are checked against the approved sample before packing.

  5. 05

    Packing, carton marks and shipping.

Pieces are packed with your labels, tags and polybags, and cartons are marked to your specification. Freight is quoted after destination and carton count are confirmed, and shipping is tracked worldwide.

The four finishing pieces worth deciding early

Neck labels

The label inside the garment. It carries your brand name and sits where the wearer sees it every time. Decide the wording and placement before sampling, because changing it later means remaking the label run.

Hang tags

The tag a buyer reads first. Size, care and brand story live here. Keep the content short and consistent with the neck label, or the two will contradict each other on the shelf.

Polybags

The bag each piece ships in. It protects the garment in transit and sets the first impression when the box opens. Agree the bag type with the quotation, not after production starts.

Carton marks

The marks on the outside of each carton. They tell whoever receives the shipment what is inside, in which sizes, without opening the box. Clear marks save time at your end and prevent mix-ups between styles.

How is a brand programme different from a team order?

A team order answers one season. A brand programme answers every season after it, with the same labels, the same finish and the same fit, so a customer who buys twice gets the same garment twice. That is why the first sample matters more here than anywhere else. It locks the specification that later runs repeat. It is also why the label and packaging decisions belong at the start, not at the end. A neck label chosen after production has started is a delay. A hang tag written after packing has begun is a second print run. Decide the finishing pieces with the quotation, approve them on the sample, and the rest of the programme runs on the decisions you already made. None of this needs a large first order. A smaller first run lets a new brand test the garment, the labels and the response from its own customers before committing to volume. The quotation confirms what that first run looks like, including the minimum that applies to your garments and decoration.

Common questions

Q: Do I need finished designs before I ask for a quote? A: No. Bring the brand direction, the garments you have in mind and the label and packaging ideas. The quotation stage is where the specification gets pinned down, and the sample stage is where it gets proved. Q: What is the minimum order for a private label programme? A: It depends on the garment and the decoration method. Smaller first runs are supported, and similar programmes typically start around 24 units, confirmed in the quotation. Q: How long does a programme take? A: Standard lead time is 14 days. Larger orders depend on the requirement and are confirmed in the quotation. Q: What decides the price of a programme? A: The garment, the decoration method, personalisation and quantity, plus freight and samples. [Our guide to custom uniform costs](/blog/how-much-do-custom-team-uniforms-cost) explains the six decisions behind a quotation. Q: Can I check a sample before the full run? A: Yes. The sample is free, shipping is paid by the customer, and availability is confirmed after review. Production follows the approved sample. Q: Does Sublivio ship outside Pakistan? A: Yes, shipping is worldwide and tracked. Freight is quoted after destination and carton count are confirmed.
